Aftercare

You will leave the studio either wrapped in cling film or wearing Yayo Familia's second skin. 

Please leave on all coverings for your journey home. 

Yayo Familia's tattoo specific second skin can remain in place for 3-5 days. During this time you will notice that ink, blood and plasma may sit under the plaster but please do not worry this is completely normal. When you are ready to remove the skin, please do so dry and in a gentle upward pulling motion. 

Once at home you can remove the cling film, clean your tattoo with either a tattoo specific wash or fragrance free soap before applying a fresh layer of balm and a new layer of cling film ready for bed. this will help to protect your sheets as well as your tattoo! 

I like to use Yayo Familia aftercare balm which is available at the studio. However if you have a preferred brand of tattoo specific aftercare then I am happy for you to use what you know. Ideally apply the balm every 4 hours after first rinsing your tattoo to remove any old cream. 

Do treat your tattoo as you would an open wound. Wash your hands before touching your tattoo and applying aftercare balm. Do try and avoid wearing clothes that will rub the area as this will remove some of the ink. Do protect your tattoo from the sun during the healing phase with appropriate clothing, thereafter I advise wearing factor 50 sunblock. 

Do keep a close eye on the skin around the Yayo second skin for signs of redness as an although it is unlikely it is possible to have a reaction to the product. Please remove it immediately if there is any reason to suspect a reaction.

Don't submerge your tattoo, so whilst it's absolutely fine to shower (with or without the second skin) it is best to avoid bath's and hot tubs. Don't use sun beds or sun bathe with a fresh tattoo. 

Don't pick at any scabs that might form.
